I am from Yangon (Rangoon), the former capital of Myanmar (Burma). After I finished my high school, I came to the US to attend Virginia Tech. In 2006, I graduated from Virginia Tech with B.S. in Biochemistry and B.A. in Chemistry. I moved to Madison, WI to continue my education at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. I am currently a graduate student at the department of Biochemistry. Since I joined Dr.Landick's lab in spring 2007, I have been working on understanding how the translocation register of RNA polymerase (RNAP) on DNA is controlled. We take several biochemical and biophysical approaches to study this translocation mechanism.
